At release, the wine is a very pale straw colour with subtle green highlights to the edges.
Wine Bouquet
The wine has lifted aromas of lemon and lime combined with subtle background notes of lemongrass.
Wine Palate
On release, the wine displays an abundance of citrus fruit flavours including a hint of pithy lemon character. There is richness to the mid palate which is well balanced by a crisp acid backbone. A hint of kaffir lime and lemongrass is evident on the back palate and the finish shows great persistence.
Cellaring Notes
This wine has been crafted for immediate enjoyment but will also reward cellaring under ideal conditions up to and possibly beyond 2015.

Wakefield, Clare Valley (South Australia) Riesling 2011 ($17, American Wine Distributors): The Clare Valley is a prime area for Riesling and Wakefield is one the regionÆs best producers. Owned by the Taylor family and sold under the name Taylor in Australia, they use the Wakefield label in the US because of trademark issues. With its absolute dryness and mineral-like tones, their 2011 Riesling is particularly impressive. Bracing and invigorating, it shows an attractive firmness in contrast to the lacy fruity side of the varietal. Uncork it--I mean unscrew it--the next time you need an enlivening wine to cut through spicy fare.
