Wakefield Estate
Pinot Noir 2009
| Region: | Adelaide Hills |
Layered flavours of red cherry, spice and plum are superbly balanced with French oak, giving length to the finish.
On release, the wine is a bright red with a vibrant purple hue.
Wine Bouquet
The wine has enticing, lifted fruit aromas of red cherry, red berry fruits, cinnamon, anise and cedar with a touch of a savoury, meaty character.
Wine Palate
The wine is medium-bodied with flavours of ripe black cherry and sweet red berry fruits along with delicate spice characters. The palate is sublimely soft with silky tannins. The back palate displays slight warmth while subtle oak characters of cinnamon and cedar add to the overall complexity of the wine.
Cellaring Notes
This wine has been crafted for immediate enjoyment but will reward careful cellaring up to and possibly beyond 2014.

Black wine - very different style, with lively purple fruits and hints of violets and chocolate.

Aromas of red fruit combine with notes of bacon, earth and spices on the nose. A sop reveals bright flavours of cherry, cranberry and plum, accented by earthy spice. Lively and somewhat layered, it's not for folks that want smooth and supple. If you like pinot with a little kick however, this is a good value to try.Pinot Noirs

Wakefield Estate Pinot Noir 2009Joelle Thomson, Drinks Biz, September 2011
Made by Wakefield Senior Winemaker Helen McCarthy, this wine has a distinctive minty aroma, which translates through to a very different style of Pinot Noir than most New Zealanders are accustomed to. It's a masculine style of wine with big body and dark red fruit flavours.
