    n/a, Winestate, October 2010

    World's greatest shiraz challenge
Mocha nose with a touch of violets, and a youthful tarry/licorice/coffee palate. Just needs a little more time.

  • Eighty Acres Shiraz Viognier 2008

Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, December 2010

Deep garnet-purple colored, 2008 Eighty Acres Shiraz Viognier gives a moderate intensity of ripe blackberry, blueberry and anise aromas with supporting notes of cassia, mace and cumin seed. Full bodied and fruity in the mouth, it has crisp acid and a medium level of rounded tannins, going long and spicy in the finish. Drinking now, it should remain delicious through 2014.

  • Eighty Acres Shiraz Viognier 2008

    WBM, March 2011

The combined effect of the co-fermented white viognier and oak gives this wine plenty of aromatic lift - alongside very dark plums and deep wet earth stuff. The palate rolls out quite smoothly and delivers plenty of ultra-ripe dark plum and berry flavour with ripe, ripe tannins. Drink now

Shiraz/Syrah Category report - Some like it hot
This new vintage is outstandingly the best I've yet tried of this wine, which is part of the world's first 100% carbon neutral wine range in accordance with the international standard for lifecycle assessment ISO14044

James Halliday, 1004 Wines Under $20, November 2011

Tight family involvement (and ownership) saw Wakefield becoming a foundling member of Australia's First Families of Wine, and it's marketing strategies have always been among those of the leaders of the pack. Here, the wine is certified carbon neutral under ISO standards. It is easy drinking, with bright juicy red and black fruits on the light-to medium-bodied palate. Blending conscience with pleasure will be a good cocktail for some.
